Bureau Betak designs the faded tapestries that set the backdrop of Burberry’s AW25 show at London’s Tate Britain. Two columns part these somewhat washed-out paintings of the countryside to make way for the models. The fabrics at the Burberry AW25 by Bureau Betak reinterpret the landscape paintings by British masters and tapestries. Daniel Lee, the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, says he is struck by the craftsmanship and fabrics of the stately homes. 

He then creates a backdrop reminiscent of the interiors he has seen. Inside London’s Tate Britain, swatches of hand-painted wallpapers found in the grandest drawing rooms show up as part of the Burberry AW25 show. They share the same space alongside the furnishing fabrics, handmade carpets, and what Daniel Lee can describe as ‘sumptuous, somewhat faded’ tapestries by Bureau Betak. He even drapes the seating in frescos, which are seen in many old country houses. It attempts to replicate the dust sheets in a packed-up manor.

Sinéad O’Connor archives set the show’s runway music

The colors of the tapestries by Bureau Betak during the Burberry AW25 show a swing between the tapestry brown and deer taupe feature. They relate to the motif and palette of the season’s collection because Daniel Lee draws inspiration from weekend escapes. ‘It’s that great Friday night exodus from London. Long rainy walks in the great outdoors to disconnect and day trips to grand stately homes,’ he says. These fabrics evoke the sense of a manor then.

On top of that, having the show inside the Tate Britain in London fits the British backdrop and homage Burberry is going for. This also marks the brand’s one-year partnership with Tate, supporting vital conservation work at Tate Britain’s world-leading Painting Conservation Studio. Aside from the tapestries by Bureau Betak, Daniel Lee has commissioned longtime Burberry collaborator, producer, and DJ Benji B for the AW25 show. Here, the producer sources and uses the archive of late singer Sinéad O’Connor to set the show’s music.
